Mike, being a fraternal friend of Roger A. McLean, started working part-time for Mr. McLean in January 1996, for the upcoming tax season. Mike attended Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), graduating in 1980 with a Political Science degree. Mike continued to work with Mr. McLean each tax season until March 2016, when after Mr. McLean’s untimely passing, he purchased the business, keeping the name R. A. McLean & Associates, LLP in remembrance of Mr. McLean.
Mike has 27 years of experience preparing income tax returns. In addition to his many years of hands on experience, Mike participates in the IRS Annual Filing Season Program and maintains his Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) certification.
Tanya, graduated from Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), with a BS in Accounting in 2009. Tanya is a distinguished Tax Accountant, boasting a remarkable financial services career spanning 14 years. Tanya was hired by Mr. McLean in November of 2013 after leaving her previous employment as a Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer. After Mr. McLean’s death in 2016, Tanya received various hiring offers, but decided rather, to remain at R. A. McLean & Associates to run the day-to-day operations. So in January 2018, Tanya was made a Partner of the firm.
Astrid started working at R. A. McLean & Associates as a Translator/Professional Tax Preparer, in October of 2018. Astrid’s father, a loyal business client, heard that we needed a tax preparer that was also bilingual. Astrid was invited to apply and was interviewed all on the same day. And was hired on the spot! Astrid, then left her previous employer and began a career with R. A. McLean & Associates. Her joyous nature and kind heart make her loved by all of her clients. Astrid is currently a senior at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). Graduating in the Spring 2024, with a BS in Accounting.
Gloria a graduate of College of the Albemarle (COA), worked with Mr. McLean as his Administrative Assistant, when he was the Vice-Chancellor at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). She also worked with him after he founded R. A. McLean & Associates, only during tax seasons. Gloria continued to work with Mr. McLean after her retirement from ECSU. And remained at the firm under Mr. Michael Godfrey. Gloria is loved by clients, with her words of encouragement, and framed scriptures.
